My personal hero, right now: Piers Morgan

E’ probabilmente sconosciuto ai più in Italia, considerando che guardare cosa succede oltre i confini del nostro paese, è cosa assai rara nell’italica penisola.
Piers Morgan è un giornalista inglese, ha lavorato come direttore al New of the World e in seguito al  Daily Mirror, dal quale poi è stato allegramente scaricato e abbandonato. Pare che il mio eroe del giorno abbia pubblicato delle foto, reputate poi fake,  delle truppe britanniche in Afghanistan, in atteggiamenti lesivi verso alcuni prigionieri.

Morgan è però risorto dalle ceneri, si è ricostruito una carriera reinventando se stesso, prima partecipando come giudice a Britain’s Got Talent, poi conducendo Life Stories, un format nel quale ogni settimana Morgan intervistava personaggi rilevanti per l’Inghilterra o, più in generale, per lo show business. Proprio in una di queste puntate, il caro amico, è riuscito a far frignare il glaciale multimilionario Simon Cowell, noto produttore discografico ideatore di X Factor. Beh, queste lacrime (si mormora) gli siano valse un nuovo importante incarico alla CNN, come sostituto di Larry King, ormai in pensione: “Piers Morgan Tonight”.  Non male direi, stiamo solo parlando della prima serata sulla CNN.
E adesso chi è che ride?
A parte il savoir-faire inglese che gli consente di leggere la lista della spesa sembrando (ed essendo, nel suo caso)  intelligente, il mio eroe fa domande argute e, cosa assai rara, ascolta le risposte, non limitandosi a seguire la scaletta. Lui sa cosa significa intervistare. Ti ammiro molto, caro Morgan. Per quello che può valere.
Poichè non mi sono ancora abbandonata alla condivisione di Facebook e Twitter, anche se seguo le sue gesta in replica sulla CNN e sbircio i Tweet, non posso interagire. Se invece, voi sempre connessi, volete andare a curiosare: Piers Morgan .
Potreste addirittura fargli un favore qualora decideste di inserirlo nei Following, so che sta compiendo una sorta di battaglia mediatica con un certo Lord Sugar, del quale ignoro l’esistenza, per decretare chi è il vincitore in termini di consenso.

Avverbio che mi fa apprezzare Morgan e in generale la lingua inglese: properly. Una grande parola.

But Morgan took a new lease of life, re-built a brand new career re-inventing himself hosting as judge in Britain’s Got Talent, then Life Stories, a format in which every week Morgan interview relevant British or show business personalities in general. Just in one of these shows, my dear friend made Mr Ice Simon Millionaire Cowell, well known producer and creator of X Factor, cry. Well, these tears (someone is murmuring), worth a new important job at CNN as replacement of retired Larry King: “Piers Morgan Tonight”. Not bad, it’s just the CNN.
Who’s laughing now?
Savoir-faire apart, which let him read the shopping list sounding (and being in his case) intelligent, my hero makes sharp questions and, rare thing, listen to the answers not just following the script. He knows how to ask. I admire you so much, dear Morgan. For what it’s worth.
I’m not lapsed into sharing thing like Facebook and Twitter, even though I follow this gentleman on CNN and I take a peek on his tweet, so I can’t interact. For you, always connected: Piers Morgan.
You could just make him a favour if you’d decide to follow him on Twitter, I know he’s making some kind of media battle with a guy named Lord -don’t know who he is- Sugar, to decree who’s the winner in terms of consent.

Adverb which makes me appreciate Morgan and English: properly. A great word.
